Merrimack Valley Playwrights 

As of September 2019, Merrimack Valley Playwrights is on semi-permanent hiatus, with the possibility that it may reform next year, with an emphasis on getting plays in front of the public in the form of staged readings.  

 

MVP had a great run. Since 2013, we not only read dozens of long and short stage plays and screenplays at our monthly meetings – many of which went on to full productions at theaters around the country – but also produced staged readings of full-length plays at The Hearing Room and The Worthen Café.

 

In addition, MVP produced short play readings as part of our Pop-Up Plays series and also participated in the 2017 Lowell Creaticity Festival.  In the spring of 2019, MVP members wrote, directed and acted in my short film, Sole Obsession.

 

I want to thank everyone who participated in MVP over the years. I learned a lot from all the talented writers and actors in the group. It's been an honor and a privilege to have worked with you all, and I hope we can continue to do so in the future.

 

The MVP Facebook site and the website will continue to exist for while, although I will indicate that we are no longer “active.”  So, if any members have events that they want to publicize, send them to mvplaywrights@outlook.com, and I will post them on Facebook.  

 

There are other playwriting groups in the area that are open to new folks.  These include Write On (meets first Monday of the month in Copley Square; send me an email for more info), Playwrights Platform (meets several times a month in different Boston-area locations; playwrightsplatform.org), and Writers & Actors Ink (newburyportacting.org/play-development/).

Based in Lowell, Massachusetts, Merrimack Valley Playwrights is a development group for playwrights and actors.  Since 2010, MVP has provided a forum for new and established writers to hear their work.   On occasion, the work of MVP members is  presented to the public in the form of staged readings in unique locations in the Lowell area.
